Nikita Engheepi is an Associate Director at IDIA. She graduated from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, and pursued her Masters in Law from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. During her university days, she was associated with IDIA as a team leader and she also received the Manav Gagaraj award for being a top performing team leader.
During her masters, she researched on the ‘Inheritance and Property Rights of Sumi Naga Women comparing the Customary and the Indian law’. Subsequently, she joined the Centre of Criminology and Justice, TISS, Mumbai, as a Criminal Justice Fellow, where she worked on legal aid for the marginalized under-trials at Dimapur, Nagaland jails.
At IDIA, she handles the Northeast, Pune and Tamil Nadu chapters.
