Arepalli Naga Babu
Arepalli Naga Babu is a visually challenged student from Machlipatnam. He hails from a family of five with an income of INR 36,000 per annum. He did his schooling till the tenth standard in his village. Despite being visually impaired, Naga Babu scored 80% in the State board exams.
Naga Babu believes that IDIA has provided him with very good opportunities and training facilities. He thanks all IDIA team members for providing him with constant support and motivation. Naga Babu’s long term goal is to become an I.A.S officer and lead his community to a brighter future. He believes that law school has provided him with the right environment and opportunities to achieve this goal.
Naga Babu secured admission at NLU Odisha with an All India Persons With Disability Rank of 4. He also secured a seat at RMLNLU Lucknow in the first list of CLAT counseling. Finally, he took admission in NLU Odisha. He graduated in the year 2016 and is currently preparing for the judicial services examination.
When Naga Babu wanted to appear for the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Judicial Services Exam, his application was rejected on the ground that he was visually challenged. Not one to take any injustice lying down, he immediately moved the Andhra Pradesh High Court (IDIA’s P-PIL Team assisted him in the process) and obtained a favourable order that allowed him to sit for the examination.
